Now that you've brainstormed, drafted some possible 6-word memoirs, and received some feedback, it's time to edit, revise, and PUBLISH!
Task: Choose ONE of your six-word memoirs and illustrate it.
Step 1 --> Use the feedback you've received to help you edit and revise until you have a polished six-word story.
Step 2 --> Find or create an image that works WITH your words to tell more of the story.
This image might be a drawing, a photograph, something you found on the internet (write down where you found it!), something you cut out of a magazine, etc. Get creative!
To be prepared for class, bring your brainstorming, your drafts, AND your illustrated six-word memoir. Make sure that for your illustrated memoir, you can check off the following three things:
___ The six-word memoir is properly capitalized, spelled, and punctuated.
___ The memoir hints at a STORY, not just a statement of facts.
___ The image illustrates the memoir: the text and the image work together to tell the story.
___ The image and text are placed together on a piece of paper at least 8.5” x 11” (printer paper).
In class, you will be presenting your work. Make sure you can EXPLAIN how the words + illustration work together to tell your story. Also make sure you can EXPLAIN your writing process for this assignment, using the academic language we reviewed this week, i.e. how did you brainstorm, how many drafts, what kind of feedback did you receive, what editing and revising did you do, etc.). You will be graded out of 16 points on the following rubric:
A, B, and D blocks, illustrated memoir is due on Friday 9/25 - you will begin class presentations that day. Be prepared! (16 points)
E and G blocks, illustrated memoir is due on Monday 9/28 - you will begin class presentations that day. Be prepared! (16 points)
