due Thursday, September 29
First you BRAINSTORMED memoir topics by completing a personal Hero’s Journey outline for yourself. Then you used the stages you identified to DRAFT between three and six 6-word memoirs. Using our class lessons on diction and punctuation, as well as your classmates’ feedback, you are REVISING and EDITING one of those 6-word memoirs for PUBLICATION in the classroom. Yay writing process!
Make sure that for your completed 6-word memoir, you can check off the following four requirements:
___ The 6-word memoir is properly capitalized & punctuated (don’t forget end-punctuation).
___ The image illustrates the memoir, so that text & image work together to tell the story.
___ The image & text are placed together on a piece of paper at least 8.5” x 11” (printer paper).
___ You have gathered all the evidence of your writer’s process (hero’s journey outline, rough draft/s, feedback).
*On Thursday and Friday you will be presenting your 6-word memoir to the class. You will have 2-3 minutes to address the following three points:
1) Describe your writing process (what changes did you make /feedback did you receive along the way?)
2) Say what stage of your hero’s journey this 6-word memoir represents.
3) Explain what you hope a reader will get out of your published 6-word story (They won’t know the whole back story, but what might they be wondering about, thinking, or feeling?).
Consider practicing your answers to those questions in advance!
